Especially during this Month of the Military Child, the MCEC® is dedicated to expanding societal awareness of military children and their significant contributions.  Our theme this month manages to encompass our entire goal in just four simple words: “Their Story, Our Mission”.

I often write about the unique challenges and life experiences of military children.  But what does that mean?  The Military Child Education Coalition® (MCEC®) has interviewed 11 different military children.  There is no single, distinct path of a military child nor is there a single, distinct aspiration for each and every one.  Their memoirs are as varied as they are, even among siblings.  Their life experiences, interests and life goals are individually different.  What they all share is pride; pride in their families, pride in this nation, and pride in the service of the military.

Despite numerous moves and deployed parents, these are amazing young adults.  These students work hard in school, participate in sports and other activities, they seek out new friends.  They are very loyal and protective of their families.  Reading each of the stories gives a fresh perspective on military families and all that they sacrifice for our great nation.

Their personal stories can be found at: http://www.militarychild.org/news-and-events/april-is-month-of-the-military-child.   I encourage you to read through them, it won’t take too much of your time.  I’m willing to bet that whatever the amount of time you sacrifice to read these compelling interviews will not be missed once you’ve had the chance to meet these outstanding individuals.  You too, will be proud of our nation and our nation’s families that serve.

April is the Month of the Military Child and the MCEC is celebrating all these fabulous children.  We truly believe that “Their Story is Our Mission”.
