The Free Application for Federal Student Aid and You!

Happy New Year! Along with those 2014 resolutions and goals, don’t forget to start planning for college. If you have a high school senior, January is the month to start thinking about the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). This link will take you right to the Department of Education’s FAFSA website. It gives helpful instructions so you know what to expect when it is time to apply.
Another great website I’d like to share is the College Scorecard. When you fill out the FAFSA you will want to list the top colleges your senior is interested in. The College Scorecard can help you research those possible colleges in terms of cost, graduation rate and median borrowing rate – just to name a few. This may help your senior to narrow down the choices.
And please check out SchoolQuest’s own Scholarship Finder. Simply input some information and our scholarship finder will return lots of possible scholarship leads to help pay for college. Every dollar counts and if you can earn free money for college by simply writing some essays, why not try?
Senior year is jam-packed with lots of fun stuff and a few requirements that aren’t quite as fun. But, if you and your student work through each requirement throughout the year, you’ll be set for future success. When it’s time to put on that cap and gown you can both feel confident for what the future holds!Share This Page
