Summer Programs for Students - Secure Spots Now!
04/21/2014 Published by: Suzanne
Have you been thinking about signing your student(s) up for some sort of summer program? Now is the time to not only start looking into what’s available, but also to secure your spot(s) as they are often limited in number and fill up quickly.
What kinds of activities are available you ask? Opportunities will always vary from location to location; however, a good place to begin looking is your child’s school district. Many offer summer programs in the areas of math and reading for students who could use some extra help. Some districts have comprehensive offerings in recreational interests as well such as sports, hobbies and/or crafts offered at varying age-appropriate levels which can be a great way for kids to explore a new area of interest. Other potential sources for programs like this are: your local library, YMCA’s, gyms, art museums, and recreation centers to name a few.
Whether there’s a class they need to retake, or one they’d like to get done in advance, high school students may have options for taking classes over the summer months through their school district, a local community college, or even online. Many, if not most, colleges and universities offer summer enrichment programs as well for students who have a particular area of interest they’d like to explore in more depth which can offer a wonderful glimpse into college life.
The important thing to remember is to start inquiring now while openings still exist!
