Have your students finished their school year? . . . or will they be done in the next few weeks? If you’re looking for something fun and educational to do with them, take advantage of the Blue Star Museums program. Starting Memorial Day weekend and running through Labor Day, September 3,2012, a record 1,600 (up from approximately 1,000 last summer) art exhibits, science centers and amazing museums all over the nation offer free admission to active duty, National Guard and Reserve military personnel and their families (the military ID holder plus up to five family members).
First launched in the summer of 2010, Blue Star Museums is an Operation Appreciation initiative from Blue Star Families in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts as well as Joining Forces, MetLife Foundation and hundreds of museums across the country.
For participating locations in your area, simply click on the interactive map found on the Blue Star Families website.
A full list of museums that offer free admission to military families year round can also be found on the Blue Star Families web site.
Go ahead and explore all of the opportunities out there . . . you may just learn something new this summer!Share This Page
