With our focus in the United States on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education and careers, it’s no surprise that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is taking a role in “the effort to inspire interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics through its unique mission, workforce, facilities, research and innovations.”  While NASA maintains facilities in several locations around our country, not everyone can make the trip to visit them.  For those who want to learn from home or school, NASA provides a multitude of resources on their website as well as many online learning opportunities.

“Current Opportunity Pages” providing events, opportunities and more listed by grade levels are available for both educators and students.  (What a wonderful resource for homeschoolers!)  NASA’s Educator Professional Development department also provides a series of Free Education Webinars.

Learn more about NASA’s origins and current projects  and discover the locations of their Visitor Centers by visiting their website.

NASA's vision is “To reach for new heights and reveal the unknown so that what we do and learn will benefit all humankind.”  In the end, isn’t that what education is all about?
