Resilience, Growth-Mindset, Thriving . . . all attributes we’d like to associate with our children. Faced with the many changes associated with moving and deployment, these skills can be especially helpful . . . vital even . . . for military-connected kids to reach their full potential. The Military Child Education Coalition® (MCEC®) has established a new, one-day professional development training institute with this very focus!
MCEC’s “Helping Military Children Discover Their S.P.A.R.C.: Strength, Potential, Aspirations, Resourcefulness, ConfidenceTM” professional development course is face-to-face and takes place over the span of one day. Participants are provided with “the knowledge needed to prepare young people to develop hardiness skills to help them meet personal and professional goals through identification of their sparks and interests while developing a growth mindset.” Although it’s been designed with professionals, para-professionals, youth leaders and others who work with children and youth in mind; parents can also benefit by learning ways to help their children reach their full potential.
With the goal of “ensuring quality educational opportunities for all military children affected by mobility, family separation and transition”, this new course is one of many offered by the MCEC in the areas of Professional Development, Student Programs, Parent Programs and Literacy Initiatives. A current course catalog as well as a schedule of upcoming trainings is available online.
Become a “Spark Champion” . . . for the sake of the child!
