2013 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

Calling all of you student artists and/or writers . . . here is yet another opportunity to showcase your talents! Presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition “identifies teenagers with exceptional artistic and literary talent and brings their remarkable work to a national audience.” Celebrating 90 years of creativity (the awards began in 1923), participants submit original art and writing to compete for regional and national awards, and scholarships (over $25 million has been offered in the last five years). Past winners include: Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Robert Redford, Richard Avedon and Joyce Carol Oates.
When does it begin?
*Registration opened on September 17, 2012
Who can participate?
*Open to students enrolled in grades 7 through 12 in a public, private, parochial, home-school or out of school program in the US, Canada or in an American school abroad. Teens can apply in 28 categories of art and writing.
What is the deadline to submit my work?
*All work is submitted online according to regional guidelines. Note that deadlines generally range from December 15, 2012 – January 15, 2013 (based on your region). See the link below for more detailed information about these guidelines.
