Get ready for this year’s season of the Blue Star Museums program! Beginning on Memorial Day (Monday May 27th 2013) and running through Labor Day (Monday September 2, 2013), eligible service members and their families will have free access to more museums, art centers and exhibits all across the United States than ever before.
What is it?
The Blue Star Museums Program is a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, Joining Forces, MetLife Foundation and participating museums across the United States.
When did it begin?
Now in its fourth season, Blue Star Museums began in 2009.
Who qualifies for free entry?
Active duty military personnel, National Guard and Reserve personnel and up to five family members are eligible for free entry into participating facilities. Check out this chart to find the acceptable forms of ID that will allow you free access.
What’s new this year?
With the number of participating facilities growing each year, there are more than 2,000 children’s museums, fine art museums, history and science museums and nature centers participating in 2013!
